Pip was born and raised in Chicago, in the notorious “Cabrini Green” Housing Project. With all the distractions surrounding, Pip choose basketball as an outlet to minimize the influence and focus his mind. Pip was one of the three basketball players in his class in 8th grade. He continued to excel while attending Sullivan High School. He had the honor of receiving the most valuable player award for all four years of his tenure. He was accredited with leading Sullivan to its only Red North division championship. Pip went on to start his college career at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. Waldorf was a two year judo college. While at Waldorf Pip was a key contributor to the schools only 20 win team. In year two recorded the school’s first ever triple double. He ended his career there with 4triple doubles and also leading the team in rebounds at the point guard position. That lead him to earn Honorable mention All American. Pip graduated from Waldorf and went on to become the first Division 1player in schools history. Northern Illinois University where he started 33 career games in his two year stint 1997-1999. After a brief stint professionally which lead him to Kansas City. Pip individual train some of the top in KC. This lead to KU alumni Sean Pearson hiring him as his top assistant at Lincoln Prep High School. His three years there Lincoln had the most win in Missouri during that stint. He then join Rob Heitman at Hogan Prep High School as assistant coach while there those two years lead to a 3rd place finish 2017 and State Title in 2018. Achieving this incredible success coaching at the High School level. Pip has been instrumental in building top level grassroots AAU programs. With the merger of the KC Spurs and NDaGym to Team KC. The program is one of the top in the region. Our 2020 class along obtain over 15 scholarships for our student athletes.
After spending several years coaching high school and youth basketball in Kansas City, Coach Jackson created KC Jayhawks/Team KC basketball program in 2009. Coach Jackson helps handle administrative duties for High School and Youth teams such as scheduling for practices and tournaments, accounting and fundraising, uniform and apparel orders, team travel, etc, as well as coaching Team KC's 5th grade team. He also assists with other age groups.
Coach Cliff attended Hickman Mills High School in Kansas City MO. After Graduating he Immediately went into coaching. Starting with Youth Basketball and Football Grades K-4th. Coach Cliff Graduated from Ashford University with a Bachelors Degree In Business Leadership. With over 15 years of youth coaching experience, his passion for our local youth and desire to see our youth achieve their dreams is what fuels him. Growing the Team KC Program is his number one priority. Being part of the program and helping student athletes take the next step in their life is his passion. There is nothing he would not do to see their dreams achieved.
Prentes Potts is a local high school coach who is currently the Head Coach of Leavenworth High School. He also has coached at Schlagle, Turner, Raytown, and has coached in college at Avila and KCKCC. Coach Potts has been coaching for 8 plus years, and training athletes for 11 years. Coach Potts also spent 7 years in the US Army after graduating from college, where he was proud to deploy to Kuwait and Afghanistan. Coach Potts graduated from SM North high school, where he started varsity all four years. He signed a national letter of intent to play at the University of Creighton. He played two years of junior college basketball at KCKCC, where he holds the record for single season assist, and after completing his time there he attend Southwest Baptist University. Coach Potts loves to develop young athletes on and off the court, with his elite skill level training, but also by preparing them for life after basketball in young adulthood. He takes pride in developing relationships that can last forever.
Coach Hooks was born and raised in KCK. He graduated from F.L. Schlagle High Scool 2003. Coach Hooks fell in love with basketball at an early age and has been a student of the game ever since. He has been teaching and coaching the game for 8 years including a two year run at Sumner Academy.
Coach Johnson has been coaching for 20 plus years. He coached his own program, the KC Greyhounds from 2005 to 2012; he also coached at Avila University for 3 years and at St. Mary's High School for 2 years. Throughout his career, while coaching and playing sports, Darryl has also been an accomplished High School and College Official for the past 20 years. Coach Johnson has been a teacher and role model for many youth, as well as his own children, preparing them for their future career in sports and teaching them the values of life.
Coach Don is one of the most well-respected AAU coaches in the Kansas City area. He was the Founder and General Manager of the KC Spurs Basketball Club and was the head coach of the nationally ranked 2019 KC Spurs Black squad. He is also head coach of the 2021 Team KC Black team. Coach Don has 15 plus years of experience as an AAU youth basketball coach and is a former assistant coach to Bob Sundvold (now head coach at UMSL) and Rodney Perry (now assistant coach at Oral Roberts); college athlete at Wichita State University.
Coach Handley has been apart of the Spurs family since 2010. Head coach of the 2022 Team KC Black team; has over 30 years of coaching at the professional, collegiate and high school level. Played college basketball at University of Texas under legendary Coach Abe Lemons; high school scoring champion in Oklahoma as a Senior.
“Coach D” - Damion Brown is currently in his third year as the Hyman Brand Head Varsity Basketball Coach.
Coach D has been coaching in the area for the past 12 years; some of his notable roles are as an Assistant to Coach Ed Fritz at BVNW, as an Assistant to Coach Rodney Perry at Avila University, and as the Founder & Player Development Director for TRU Basketball LLC, and The You Hoop Organization. He is one of the veteran coach of the KC Spurs Club, where he first began coaching Club Basketball in 2009.
As an athlete Coach D played both collegiate football and basketball. He was a running back & kick returner at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville (2000-2001) and the University of Nebraska at Omaha (2002-2004). He concluded his athletic career playing basketball at Johnson University (formally Johnson Bible College) in Knoxville Tennessee, where he played guard for the nationally ranked (5th) Preachers, during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons. The Preachers finished the 2007 season as the NCCAA Division II Regional Champions, with a record of 27-11, losing in the semifinals of the national tournament to Mid-America the defending champions by one point.
Coach D has worked with hundreds of athletes both amateur and professional, as both a coach and skills trainer. His philosophy is rooted in individual skills development, instilling character values, and teaching proper decision making. As the Skills Director for Team KC, you can be assured that your child will receive the highest quality instruction helping them to not only becoming better basketball players but also better people and leaders.
Coach Wind has 26 years of coaching under his belt having served as a junior college women’s head coach, a high school boys head coach, and as an AAU boys’ basketball coach in Michigan. Craig will assist players that have the ability and desire to play at the college level in finding schools to play for and flourish as student-athletes. He will provide insight and assist our athletes to follow NCAA guidelines and procedures required to be recruited and qualify for athletic scholarships at various levels. Craig has established relationships with college coaches from coast to coast and can easily contact them on behalf of our players. Craig has also hosted his own “recruiting service” called PRIME TIME HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS, from 1990 to 2010 in the state of Michigan. Colleges such as Kansas, Missouri, Duke, North Carolina, UCLA, Indiana, Michigan State, and Arizona and many others subscribed to his service. Craig also was a Recruiting Service Analyst for RIVALS.com from 2004 to 2008 in Michigan as he covered the state and the country in both football and basketball for the Michigan RIVALS site.
ROBERT LOGAN JR
Robert "KaCiago" Logan Jr. graduated from Hickman Mills high shool. Coach Robert graduated from Illinois Center for Broadcasting out of Lombard, Illinois. In 2010, Robert created a well respected showcase for overlooked seniors called “THE CITY VS. THE COUNTY SHOWCASE”. The showcase featured players from "the inner city and south KC". Later coach Robert started his own program, Team KaCiago, starting with an 8th and 9th grade class and coached them until they graduated. Robert coached NDaGym’s 2018 unsigned senior team. Robert joins Team KC Basketball willing and ready to service the student athletes to help achieve their goals on and off the court.
